What HomiesAbroad is

HomiesAbroad is an information service that helps people find shared housing and roommates when moving abroad. We aggregate two sources of listings: posts created directly on our platform, and neutral summaries of public housing-group posts from Facebook with direct links to the original.

We are not a real-estate broker, agent, or property manager. We take no part in, and no commission from, any rental agreement. Every transaction is directly between you and the other party.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use HomiesAbroad. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. Use a valid email address and keep your sign-in credentials private. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately.

Your responsibilities

Post accurate information, treat others respectfully, and follow the law. Do not post content that is fraudulent, misleading, discriminatory, or that you do not have the right to share. Do not use the platform to spam, harass, or scam other users.

We do not verify ownership of any listing. Never send money before a video tour and a signed lease. HomiesAbroad is not responsible for any loss resulting from a rental arrangement.

Prohibited conduct

You may not: impersonate another person; post false or misleading listings; collect other users' personal information; use automated tools to scrape or access the service; interfere with the operation of the platform; or use the service for any unlawful purpose.

Content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you post and grant HomiesAbroad a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote it in connection with the service. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law, and we respond to valid content-removal and copyright requests.

The HomiesAbroad name, logo, and site design are our intellectual property. You may not use them without written permission.

Email alerts and notifications

When you create a listing or save a search, we may send you email alerts when new listings appear that are relevant to you. You can manage your email preferences from your profile or unsubscribe via the link in any email.

Curated posts from public groups

Some content on HomiesAbroad consists of neutral summaries of public posts from Facebook housing groups, with a direct link to the original. We do not guarantee the accuracy, availability, or legitimacy of these external posts. If you are the original author and want a summary removed, use our Content removal page.

Disclaimers

HomiesAbroad is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any listing or curated post. We do not guarantee that any rental will be safe, satisfactory, or as described.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomiesAbroad and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to financial losses from rental transactions.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at any time if you violate these terms or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users or to the platform. You may delete your account at any time from your profile page.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
